Meet Our Medical Director & Owner
Dr. Rachel Mayfield is the proud partner opening this new urgent care model in Vancouver, WA. She moved to Vancouver in 2022 and she has felt right at home since making the decision to move here. Her passion to open an urgent care is finally coming to fruition, and she hopes to be able to bridge the gap of general practice and emergency in the area with this after hours and overnight urgent care model.
Dr. Mayfield grew up on a cattle and row crop farm in a small town in Mississippi. She then went to Mississippi State University where she gained her bachelors degree in Animal and DairyScience then graduated from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and immediately entered a career with the Army Veterinary Corps. After her service she practiced as a relief veterinarian in Virginia with general practice and emergency practices before moving to Vancouver to achieve her dream of living in the Pacific Northwest and starting an Urgent Care practice. She is currently the acting medical director for Cascade Park
Animal Hospital until the urgent care is open.
Her hobbies include hiking, paddleboarding, dancing at a local dance studio, and hanging out with her two rescue dogs, Kira and Faith. She has done numerous international veterinary trips to teach and also expand her knowledge of veterinary medicine and the human animal ecosystem interfaces. She believes the human animal bond is one of the strongest relational bonds for humanity and she supports her patients and clients with their mental health in mind.
She cannot wait to build a team of likeminded animal loving individuals to support this new endeavor. She hopes this clinic will take pressure off of the family practices who commonly overbook their work days and emergency clinics to keep their focus on the emergent and critical care patients without the distraction of less emergent care needs.
